Thinking Day on the Air
In 1996 we ran our first TDOTA radio station, using the "Special Event" call sign: GB4GHG. This allows the Guides and Brownies to pass messages over the air. We were helped by the Reading Amateur Radio Club
Several Brownies gained the Radio Communication Badge

In 2002 Twyford came over to visit us. We operated two stations: GB4GHG and GB8GHG and this one was licenced to our own Guider, who is also a radio amateur.
On our 145MHz rig as GB8GHG we worked England, and all the girls and boys passed messages on that band. That was where we contacted other TDOTA units - and listened to all the messages from their Guides.
Then we, as GB4GHG, worked 7MHz and 14MHz. On the 14MHz we worked Germany, Denmark, Glasgow, Sweden, Hungary, N Ireland, Bordeaux and Saxony. Everyone was really enthusiastic about the German contacts. We had a Guide and a Guider passing messages in German.
In 2001 we joined Guides in Twyford, to help them with TDOTA. We made contacts with other amateurs in Sweden, Germany, Austria and Spain. One Guide was brave enough to talk to the Austrian amateur in German.
As well as Brownies gaining the Radio Communication Badge, several Guides pass a clause in the World Guiding Badge at each event.
